Future of English

English has become one of the most important languages in the world due to its big number of speakers and the strong influence that they have in political, economical, technological, military and social aspects, as well as communications. Especially in recent years, when the United States has taken power over each one of this aspects. However, the standardization sought by the British, seems hard to achieve because people still wonder whether it is better to speak American or British English. The fact, is that American or British, both are English, it is just that one of them is a branch of the other one but that is gaining a lot of speakers and a lot of new words, too.

The United Sates is the modern empire as once was the United Kingdom that conquered half the world, even once it was said that 'Sun never lies in English soil...'. As long as USA continues gaining power the English language will develop such strength that it will become a classic: a language which must be studied to understand humanity, as it was once studied Latin, and is still studied.

As a part of the conclusion we can add that one of the most important aspects we saw, was that during the beginning of the Modern English, it is quite interesting to denote that it was used to talk to God as "thou", considering that thou was used to talk with common people. It would be very interesant to investigate if it was because they wanted to be nearer God or because they considered it less important than their nobles.
